New Dates announced

We’re sorry to say that you’re going to have to wait an extra three weeks for your Heart of Gold fix this year. We know it’s going to be a hard wait filled with long nights of sweaty anticipation for the smorgasboard of film, music, galas, wine, VR and more that we’ve got on offer this year - but we believe in you! So strike those previous dates from your diary and please mark in the 13th Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival for:

27 - 30 OCTOBER, 2022

Why the wait? Well, sometimes things just… clash. Unbeknownst to everyone until just a couple weeks ago, our venue had another event scheduled right next door to it during our dates, which happened to be a very loud event - Matty Hillcoat’s Truckies Day Out. TDO is a really great event, raising money for SIDS research, and it’s basically a full day of very loud things - from chainsaw races to burnout trucks, and our days of films, music, talks and more would have been very drowned out by these sounds. We consulted acoustic engineers, designed huge sound blocks, surveyed other venues, and worked on elaborate plans for synching up the events, but ultimately we just couldn’t find a way forward without making both festivals a lot less fun. Truckies Day Out happens on a very special date for the organisers, so we’ve shuffled Heart of Gold over to the festive end of October and now we can both put on the big shows we imagined from the start. We’re really grateful to Christine and the TDO team for their time working on this.

For many of you this’ll be a quick date change in the diary (and don’t forget to text that friend you’d invited and let them know too!) but for some it might be a little less convenient. We’re very sorry about that, and do get in touch if there’s anything we might be able to help with. We really did try to keep those original dates, but just couldn’t get it working. On the plus side, this shuffle does give us three more weeks to find brilliant short films, musicians, speakers and entertainment and put together a dazzling festival for you come October. This will still be the biggest Heart of Gold we’ve ever held, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.

Thanks for your patience and support. Love your hearts of gold.

See you soon.

the Heart of Gold team
