All of the Festival Events take place at the Gympie Civic Centre at 32/34 Mellor Street in Gympie, Queensland, Australia.
The magnificent soul of the Civic Centre, the Heritage Theatre is a two-tier, 400-seat theatre replete with red seats, brick walls and velvet curtains transformed into a cinema each year by our magic Heart of Gold audiovisual team.
Positively Wes Anderson in styling, this seventies gem is where the biggest screenings of the festival take place, including our Special Feature screening and Q&A on Saturday.
It has wheelchair access and a hearing loop.
A smaller more intimate venue. The intimate little sister of the Heritage Theatre, Fossickers Room has a capacity of 80 and is the place to catch our Explore strands, popular sessions on repeat and events in the Extras program, including Masterclasses and Q&A’s.
Festoon lighting and lounges add to the festive atmosphere of the space – arrive early for the best seats in the house! No wheelchair access
The beating heart of Heart of Gold, Prospectors Hall is our festival hub and the place to be between sessions. Decked out by Heart of Gold’s own venue designer, be sure to check out the many bonsai on display, be absorbed in a book from the pop-up library or enjoy a cup of coffee and a bite to eat in this beautiful space. A large open auditorium which hosts events such as Q&A sessions. The merchandise stand and hospitality areas are also located here.
During the Festival patrons are invited to use this area to relax and enjoy some of the delicious food and drink available from the Festival Cafe run by volunteers from Little Haven Palliative care.
A licenced bar is located adjacent to the foyer.
